Giving: The Heart of the Gospel

Giving is at the very heart of the gospel message. God the Father, in love, gave his Son, Jesus, to redeem the fallen world through the sacrifice of his blood. Jesus did not shy away from this mission; rather, he embraced it, as Paul tells us in Philippians 2:6-8:

Though he was in the form of God, [he] did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Because we have been given so great a grace through the redemption found in Jesus Christ our Savior, we too, by faith in him, are able to give wholeheartedly of ourselves — of our time, our talents, and our treasures — for the glory of his name and the advancement of his Kingdom.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."

John 3:16 (ESV)
